It is a great honour and privilege for the South Armagh Memorial committee to present this historic development. The people of South Armagh are a very proud people and for generations, in extraordinary and difficult circumstances, found the inner strength, determination and courage to stand against injustice and oppression and to demand the rights and entitlements of the Irish people to self determination.

This memorial garden is to be a lasting tribute to the local volunteers of the Irish Republican Army and to those unsung heroes who played their part in the fight for Irish freedom. It is also dedicated to the families of our patriot dead, who have borne loss with so much dignity and pride.
